The Bangalore Ring
Founded in 1964 by Prof. S K Vasantha Kumar, the Bangalore Ring is India’s third oldest – and only active – IBM Ring in the country. As Ring 177, we are proud to hold a permanent charter to the International Brotherhood of Magicians (USA) – the world’s largest organisation for magicians and for people interested in the magical arts.
In 2024, the Bangalore Ring was appointed as a member of the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques (FISM) – the international body bringing together the world’s leading magic societies. We are honoured to represent India at this global magic federation, which organises the coveted “World Championship of Magic” (WCM).
International Brotherhood of Magicians
(IBM)
The International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) is headquartered in USA and boasts of over 11,000 members across 88 countries, with 300-plus local groups called Rings. Founded in 1922 by Len Vintus and Gene Gordon, the IBM is considered to be the most respected organisation in the world for magic collectors, magic hobbyists, and amateur and professional magicians. To think all this began with just three friends writing to each other!
International Federation of Magic Societies
(FISM)
The Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques (FISM) was created in 1948 and is the most respected magic association in the world. Today, it consists of more than 100 magic societies, both national and international, as well as national Federations which represent over 80,000 magicians from over 50 countries. Dedicated to the development of the art of magic, FISM is best known for hosting the most prestigious World Championship of Magic every three years.
